This course is a preparatory year as part of a four-year BSc (Hons) Business Management with Fashion degree* and is aimed at students who require more time to develop their portfolio and skillset prior to year one of undergraduate study. This course will ignite your creativity and imagination, so you can discover new ways of making, thinking and documenting.

What you will learn

In this four year BSc (Hons) Business Management with Fashion Year 0 course in London, you will learn core business practice and refine your skills in management, strategy and research. 

You will gain an in-depth understanding of the fashion industry and explore how businesses innovate and embrace digital practices. Learn everything you need to set up as a successful entrepreneur or work in global business. 

While this course is academic and theory based, you will also develop your creative thinking and learn to confidentially express your ideas both verbally and visually. You will be set live project briefs and have the chance to undertake work-based learning opportunities with leading and emerging fashion brands. 

The course is structured to enable you to gradually build your business skills and confidence. You will gain core business and management knowledge and learn to understand financial statements, process information and produce meaningful solutions to your creative briefs. 

A range of field trips will help you to gain a better understanding of key aspects of fashion business operations.  

You will develop both the hard and soft skills valued by employers by studying in a co-creative environment and working collaboratively with students across related courses. 

The accumulation of learning will enable you to produce a final business and management implementation project in your final year.

When you successfully complete your preparatory year, you will be able to progress smoothly into the first year of our BSc (Hons) Business Management with Fashion course in London.

Your tutors will nurture your creative potential and support you while you learn the essential practical, intellectual and transferable skills needed to confidently enter undergraduate study. 

As well as developing fundamental skills, you will also be given a broad grounding in your chosen specialist area, and an understanding of the cultural contexts of the creative industries.

The Kit Store provides a wide range of equipment that students can borrow to complete their projects. Staff can also borrow equipment to deliver their practical sessions. 

It houses a wide range of equipment from industry standard manufacturers, including cameras, audio, lighting, and more.

Staff at the Kit Store are trained in various relevant departments and are available to give advice on all the equipment within the store, to help you realise your project.

Materials library

The Ravensbourne materials library is curated by Material ConneXion, a business that introduces brands to the latest material innovations.

The materials scientists at Material ConneXion select innovative materials relevant to the courses at Ravensbourne and that reflect current trends in design and manufacturing.

Samples of these materials are then added to the library so students and staff can browse the physical collection for inspiration, material ideas and applications.

The library hosts 1,500 material samples and an interactive table for further research and access to the Material ConneXion database.
