Screen School works with Royal Shakespeare Company

Students from Ravensbourne’s Screen School have completed their largest Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) broadcast to date, streaming a production of Macbeth to over 450 schools across the UK, reaching an estimated 50,000 students.

The production marked the seventh year of the collaboration, facilitated by a dedicated team of television and editing and post production students. From production lead to graphics operator, technical lead and director, students fulfilled a wide range of roles.

With nearly 40 years of experience teaching broadcast engineering, Ravensbourne University London offers one of the UK’s most established broadcast engineering degrees. You will develop practical and technical skills across traditional and emerging broadcast technologies, including digital and satellite transmission, streaming, UHD, Dolby audio, virtual production and AI.

Aligned with industry standards, the course provides hands-on experience across the full audio-visual chain through studio and location work. Graduates leave with a BSc (Hons) in Broadcast Engineering, real-world project experience and strong industry connections. Ravensbourne is also a member of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) Student Chapter, giving students access to valuable professional networks and opportunities.

Materials library

The Ravensbourne materials library is curated by Material ConneXion, a business that introduces brands to the latest material innovations.

The materials scientists at Material ConneXion select innovative materials relevant to the courses at Ravensbourne and that reflect current trends in design and manufacturing.

Samples of these materials are then added to the library so students and staff can browse the physical collection for inspiration, material ideas and applications.

The library hosts 1,500 material samples and an interactive table for further research and access to the Material ConneXion database.
