What your course will look like
You will be continually assessed through the completion of practical and written work including essays, analysis, individual and group presentations, critical self- and peer evaluation, practical and technical tests, and the completion of individual and team projects.
You will build skills in architectural computer graphics, basic principles of structure and design and basic research skills. You will begin to think about professional enterprise and angles on problems of the built environment. We encourage you to start thinking about your contextual studies research.
You will gain greater understanding of urban design, branded environments, rehabilitation projects, and the history of the city. This will allow you to enhance your practice and develop your approach to your design work. We set briefs that encourage you to collaborate with other students and create work as part of a design team.
You will bring your learning together in a final negotiated major project, where you will investigate and make architectural design decisions. You will carry out a negotiated project which takes the form of a live brief. We ask you to show your contextual studies research and thinking in a long form dissertation. You will leave with a portfolio that shows your skills in areas in entry-level architecture.
Successful completion of this course can lead to postgraduate study in MA Environment Design.
