Chicago X London

Creative Exchange Chicago X London

Free To Be! With Kopparberg

We worked with Kopparberg to create a design competition and launch event for a series of limited-edition label designs for the Swedish cider brand. The winning student had their course fees paid for a year and their work featured on 4.5 million bottles around the world. The competition has run for two years, and the 2022 winner has recently been employed by Kopparberg’s creative agency Neverland.

Future Forward with Air Jordan & the Obama Foundation.

We worked with the Obama Foundation to create a cultural Exchange between London and Chicago.

Young people from both cities then worked with Air Jordan to create exclusive basketball uniforms for the Nike Future Forward Festival in Brixton.

The exchange included special guest appearances by the likes of Tinker Hatfield, Colin Kaerpernick and NBA apparel legend Don C.

Unsigned Stories with Apple

Students from our BA (Hons) Advertising & Brand Design course were asked to connect with an unsigned recording artist, understand their story and then share their understanding with the world.

Apple provided them with iPads, Apple pencils and MacBook Pros to help them do this and the work they created was exhibited at the Apple Europe headquarters in Central London.

A limited-edition publication was created to mark the occasion and selected students were offered placements with the Apple Design team and their creative agency, TBWA Media Arts Lab.

Contactless piggy bank

Augmented piggy banks with Barclays

We helped Barclays investigate the future of student finance. Students from our design department prototyped apps and digital products and pitched their ideas in the board room. The augmented piggy bank idea was taken on by their experience design team for further development.

“Students … are equipped with a highly professional attitude. They have the sorts of skills we need to help us transform our business by producing exciting customer experiences and communication.” – Robert Williams, Design Principal,  Experience Design Team, Barclays Bank.

What we do?

Creative Lab is the space where industry and education can discover together.

We work with a community of alumni, students, practitioners and industry partners to provide creative services for brands and public institutions.

We make films, curate events, prototype digital products, facilitate insight and design communication strategies.

Over the last five years we have worked global brands such as Apple, Nike, Barclays, Deloitte, Kopparberg and Atlantic and public organisations like the Obama Foundation and the NHS.

We connect to the next generation of creative leaders to challenge convention and deliver impactful solutions. Through this shared intelligence we connect to emerging cultures to understand new technologies and analyse developing trends.

Why we do it?

Industry collaboration is part of the DNA at Ravensbourne. Our aim is to ‘learn with industry’ and we are pioneering a unique approach that is designed to drive innovation and support employability.

Creative Lab is a key driver for this approach and sits at the heart of an integrated network of student support hubs designed to build professional skills and support our professional life practice modules.
