BSc (Hons) Information Technology Management with Integrated Foundation Year

During your Integrated Foundation Year you will focus on fundamental principles of computing and digital problem-solving.

During Year 2, 3 and 4 of the course you will explore:

• Information technology systems and strategies
• Cybersecurity
• Cloud computing
• Emerging technologies
• Data management
• Business intelligence.

Computing Integrated Foundation Year

This course will introduce you to the fundamental principles of computing and digital problem-solving.

This foundation year gives you the time, space and support to explore your strengths, build confidence and prepare for the demands of project-based, industry-focused learning. 

Modules are as follows:

• Module 1 Diagnostic exploration: making informed choices 
• Module 2 Technical: Technical knowledge in practice 
• Module 3 Specialist: Innovating specialist practice
• Module 4 Integration: Integrated practice for progression to Higher Education

Year 2 will develop the fundamentals of designing and operating computer systems for businesses and organisations.

Modules may include*:

• Software Design and Development
• The Business Landscape
• Operations and Project Management
• Information Security and Risk Management
• Professional Life and Practice 1
• Professional Life and Practice 2

Modules in Year 3 will build upon the computational principles established in the second year, focusing in on different ways of learning and working.

Modules may include*:

• Digital Ethics and Sustainable Technology
• Emerging Technologies and Innovation
• Data Management and Business Intelligence
• Work Placement or Live Project
• Professional Life and Practice 3

The final year of the course will consolidate the programme’s learning through a longer project and sophisticated modules with real-world applications.

Modules may include:

• Technology Entrepreneurship
• Information Technology Management and Consultancy
• Final Project
• Professional Life and Practice 4

The course will be assessed through formative, summative, practical, peer and reflective assessment. 

Formative assessments, such as quizzes and group discussions, are designed to provide ongoing feedback and support learning throughout the course.

Summative assessments will take place at the end of key modules and include presentations and project reports.

Practical assessments evaluate students’ ability to apply theoretical knowledge, and may include case studies or design projects.

Peer assessments help to promote self-reflection and critical thinking, helping students build on their analytical and evaluative skills.

Reflective assessments such as journals encourage personal growth and awareness of learning processes. 

Graduates from this course will be suited for positions including, but not limited to, information technology support manager, network administrator, digital project manager, cloud systems manager or business intelligence analysist. 

Potential industry destinations for these graduates range from information and digital technology services to media and entertainment technology management. You may also progress onto future study through MSc programmes at Ravensbourne.

At Ravensbourne we accept a wide range of qualifications for entry onto our courses, whilst also considering the context in which they were achieved. For this course, we would usually require a GCSE Grade 4 or above in English and Maths in addition to any of the below;

• Two A Levels at grade CC or above
• BTEC Extended Diploma at grade MPP
• Other/Mixed qualifications equivalent to 64 UCAS Tariff points

There are no interview or portfolio requirements for this course.
