BA (Hons) Games Design with Year 0

Year 0 in games design encourages creativity, imagination and new ways of making, thinking and documenting. If you are not quite ready for year one of our three year undergraduate degree then this course is for you.

Year 0 in games design is not a standalone course, it is the first stage of a full bachelor’s degree and once successfully completed you will be able to progress smoothly into our BA (Hons) Games Design.

Our friendly and dedicated tutors will nurture your creative potential and support you while you learn the essential practical, intellectual, and transferable skills needed to confidently enter into year 1.

As well as developing fundamental skills you will also gain a broad-based grounding in your chosen specialist are, an understanding of the broad cultural contexts of the creative industries in which you’ll work, and the ability to develop hardware and software suitable for design design practice.

What you
need to know

Entry requirements

Five GCSEs (grade C or above) or equivalent (including English) and also to hold at least one of the following or equivalent UK or international qualification:

  • 2 A Levels (grades A-C) or 4 AS Levels (grades A-C)
  • 2 vocational A Level (grades A-C)
  • Advanced Diploma (grades A-C)
  • International Baccalaureate (24 points or above)
  • Entry level portfolio

Selection criteria

We will use a number of methods to assess an applicant’s suitability for their course of choice.

Primarily applicants are selected on the basis of:

  • an applicant’s prior academic achievement/qualifications and/or previous employment/life experience;
  • assessment of the applicant’s ability and aptitude to succeed on the course for which s/he has applied.
