Take your first steps in games design.

The games design course is as aimed at students who are looking for extra support as they develop their portfolio and skillset and start their undergraduate study.

On this dynamic course you will master core mechanical and narrative skills in world building and narrative, games and level design and technical design.

Why study this course?

  1. Start with the Integrated Foundation Year to build core creative skills and confidence in narrative design and interactive storytelling.
  2. Learn to prototype mechanics for PC, console, mobile, and XR platforms, with your Foundation Year providing a strong technical base.
  3. Prepare for a career in AAA or indie games, specialising in the area that suits your unique skills.
  4. Develop a critical language for games and apply it to design, storytelling, and gameplay.
  5. Adapt to emerging technologies and respond confidently to changes in the games development landscape.

Our Games Design degree with an integrated foundation year starts by exploring industry roles before you specialise.

You’ll create polished prototypes in labs with VR/AR, motion capture, and Unreal Engine/Maya, tackling live briefs and work-based projects to gain real-world experience. By graduation, you’ll have a strong portfolio, professional networks, and the technical, creative, and collaborative skills to succeed across games and the wider creative industries.
