MArch Architecture: Master of Architecture

1. Progress toward professional practice experience and registration as an architect in the UK
2. Develop the knowledge, understanding, and abilities to thrive as a Part II architectural trainee in the UK
3. Learn with industry through live briefs connected to architectural practice in London, industry advisory symposiums and research agendas that tackle challenges impacting current and generations
4. Engage and grasp new and emerging tools to support the design, delivery and monitoring of buildings, spaces and workflows
5. Collaborate with a variety of stakeholders impacted by design and construction, with the opportunity to test, explore and reflect on practice in order to enhance the built environment

Students will engage with a rich and varied curriculum spanning design, environmental performance, technology, research methods, leadership, and ethical and sustainable practice. Practical application of design skills is central to this course with studio‑based projects, industry live briefs and case studies shaping the curriculum. The agendas explored across modules reflect current and nascent priorities within the built environment and a global discourse. This architectural design course is delivered with at least 50% of modules focused on design.

The MArch Architecture cultivates a collaborative and interdisciplinary learning environment, drawing on academic expertise and industry engagement to nurture reflective, responsible, and innovative emerging professionals. It blends conceptual thinking with technical resolution and business acumen. The course integrates industry as a core part of the course, with the opportunity to work alongside a versatile range of practitioners and expertise.

This course offers the chance to develop a global career within the industry, structured around key professional competencies enabling advancement toward professional registration and contemporary architectural leadership.

UK students

Students are expected to possess one of the following to enrol on the MArch Architecture.

• A lower second-class honours degree in architecture
• Or an equivalent EU / international qualification
• Or a professional qualification recognised as equivalent to an honours degree
• And normally at least one year of relevant professional experience.

If you are applying directly from an undergraduate degree course without experience or professional practice, you must be able to demonstrate a strong portfolio of academic work and professional acumen, that can be mapped to professional body competences.

To be eligible for this course, you will need to be a competent speaker and writer of English. If you require a Student Visa you need to provide us with an IELTS or equivalent English language qualification, which demonstrates a minimum of 6.5 (with a minimum of 5.5 in each sub test) or CEFR Level B2 in each component.
