In the corporate world, Design Managers oversee the development of products and services and manage the innovation process workflow. They also have a significant strategic role in managing the articulation of a business strategy, continuously improving the customer experience.
The Design Management MDes will allow you to think creatively about organisational and business problems and use design thinking to offer innovative solutions. The focus of the course is to:
- Emphasise the value of design thinking not only as a problem solving method or as a means of visualising new products and services but in its wider application to business strategy, the creation of new business models and new approaches to organisational change.
- Stress a human centred approach to design and that real innovation comes from gaining a deep understanding of users, their wants needs and limitations.
- Develop creative individuals who are equipped with an innovation and leadership toolkit that enables them to come up with original approaches to design, strategy, and social and business innovation problems.
The course provides students with the knowledge and skills to manage design holistically and strategically, and equip the postgraduates with the necessary skills and knowledge to progress to senior positions as well as to expand this influence to the wider community.
