There are now over 190,900 people working in the music industry in many different sub-sectors; from music representatives and music publishers to the live sector and music creation.

The music creation sector, which includes musicians and composers as well as producers and engineers, continues to be the most profitable sub-sector, contributing to almost 50% of the industry's entire revenue.

The success of the music creation sector shows that at its heart, the British music industry continues to be about the creation and production of genre-defining music.
