Ravensbourne University London student wins Kopparberg glass design competition
A Ravensbourne University London student has designed a new branded pint glass for Kopparberg, which has been distributed to pubs and bars across the UK and beyond.
More than 50 students took part in the project, which marks the latest chapter in Ravensbourne’s annual collaboration with the international drinks brand. The winner, Becky Smith (BA Graphic Design), will receive £9,500 to cover one year of course fees, while two runners-up, Euan Coveney (BA Advertising and Brand Design) and Helin Yurtseven (BA Product Design), each received £500 prizes.

Designing this project and receiving feedback has been a really enjoyable experience. Getting the chance to work to a professional standard as a student has given me valuable knowledge to take forward in my career.”

Partnerships with industry are integral to the Ravensbourne student experience, and this incredible opportunity demonstrates how real-world briefs can open doors, allowing our students to gain practical experiencesand exposure to major brands.
The brief was to design new glassware that was in line with the playful personality of Kopparberg and its close relationship with music, culture and community.
Becky's winning design brought together these concepts by combining images of leaves and fruit with a subtle branded fruit sticker integrated into the design. To ensure that its visual impact was maximised, she used'Ben Day Dots' – an 1879 print process, three years before Kopparberg was founded – to provide a strong indication of the brand's history while giving the glass a clean, contemporary appearance.
Derek quote
We’ve been working with Kopparberg for over five years now, but this project provided a new challenge and the opportunity to create something that will become central to their brand iconography. We had a huge range of entries, and everyone was so impressed with the quality of all of the ideas that the students put forward.”
The winning glass design was rolled out nationwide in December 2025, reaching pubs, bars and other venues across the UK.
This is the fifth year of Ravensbourne’s collaboration with Kopparberg, with previous winners designing eye-catching limited-edition bottle labels that reached millions of customers nationwide. Each year, the competition highlights our close ties with industry and our commitment to preparing students to thrive within careers in the creative sector.
At Ravensbourne University London, we collaborate with our industry partners providing bold new thinkers who bridge the skills gap and address the evolving needs of the industries we serve.
