Jake Nava inspires Ravensbourne University London film students with industry insights and global perspectives
Ravensbourne University London recently welcomed internationally renowned music video and commercial director Jake Nava to campus, where he delivered an inspiring talk and creative demonstration to third-year students on the Digital Film Production BA (Hons) course.
As part of the Cinematic Contexts module, students explored the global rise of Korean film and television through a programme led by Associate Professor, Dr. Richard Whitby. The session featured presentations from Korean producers and the organisers of Cinefest, a Korean online student film festival, with Jake Nava joining in person to share exclusive insights into his latest international project.

Best known for directing Beyoncé’s most iconic music videos, including ‘Crazy in Love’ and the globally influential ‘Single Ladies’, Jake spoke to students about his new thriller series currently in development with Korean production company Climax Studios and HYBE USA, the American arm of K-pop band BTS’s management firm.
Jake’s visual style and authenticity have made him one of the most sought-after directors in the music industry. His portfolio contains working with artists including The Rolling Stones, Arctic Monkeys, Britney Spears and Lana Del Rey.
His advertising collaborations involve landmark campaigns for Remy Martin, Puma, Google, Armani, Levi’s, Gatorade and Guinness, with inclusivity and diversity at the heart of his practice.
Jake’s work has also been recognised with multiple accolades, including Clios, Cannes Lions, British Arrows, awards from MTV and the NAACP.
Dr. Nava, who delivered the lecture, spoke about the value of bringing real-world industry expertise into the classroom.
