Ravensbourne’s Incubation unit have welcomed two new major industry partners, Visit Greenwich and DG Cities.

Visit Greenwich is run by a board of tourism experts, whose aim is to raise the profile of the Royal Borough of Greenwich, increasing the visitor economy to the benefit of local businesses, visitors and residents.

DG Cities specialise in integrating ‘smart city technologies’ to optimise the use of resources, infrastructure and services in urban environments. They have a particular focus on ‘smart mobility’ which includes autonomous vehicles.

Both companies will be based in Ravensbourne’s Incubation space and will be afforded the opportunity to collaborate with the University’s digital media and design focused students.

Commenting on the partnership, Barrie Kelly, Chief Executive of Visit Greenwich said, “We are delighted to have moved Visit Greenwich into Ravensbourne Incubation. Our aim is to grow the Greenwich visitor economy to create even more jobs. There are currently 16,000 in the sector. We believe that the environment here will help us connect to Ravensbourne’s incredible digital expertise which will help Greenwich become a world leader as a ‘smart destination’.”

Ha Smith, Head of Enterprise and Innovation said, “It is a real privilege to be joined by Visit Greenwich and DG Cities, affording our students and incubatees the opportunity to collaborate with two of the Royal Borough of Greenwich’s most important organisations. They will be able to gain practical experience on projects which have a notable impact on the local community.”
