The Sharp End (1991)

Concept and creative process

Opening titles for ‘The Sharp End’, a programme presented by Clive Anderson which took a provocative look at the past week's news, with guests from politics, journalism and comedy.
Bill Wilson’s title sequence took an irreverent view of the inflated importance of many of those who make the news. In a computer-generated animation he depicted their portraits on balloons - politicians, celebrities and even the Royals, floating above a landscape consisting of international icons. A cartoon Clive Anderson, armed with a sharp pen, floats among them deflating their egos at a stroke.
