Concept and creative process
Opening titles for ‘The Expert’, a drama series about the forensic scientist Professor John Hardy, played by Marius Goring. Designer Pauline Talbot (Carter) used the idea of a puzzle as a visual metaphor for solving a problem. The jumbled sections of a face were hand-animated under a rostrum camera, revealing the titles and credits and resolved into the fully formed portrait of the Professor. The sequence was shot by Bert Walker at Zephyr Films.
