Ravensbourne University London hosts Mo:De Festival as part of two-day motion design celebration

Between 26 and 27 June 2025, Ravensbourne University London hosted Mo:De Festival, a vibrant two-day celebration of motion design.
The festival brought together industry leaders, students and educators to champion diverse voices, showcase cutting-edge creative work and explore the evolving intersections of motion design, technology and storytelling.
Ray quote
Being exposed to events like this helps students understand what kinds of roles are available, whether they’re more technical or more conceptual. That kind of insight boosts confidence and helps them better visualise where they could fit in the industry.”
The name Mo:De reflects the multiple modes of curiosity, collaboration and expression that define the field of motion design. The colon at its centre symbolises the ongoing dialogue between industry and education that sits at the heart of Ravensbourne’s approach.
Adrian quote
Introducing students to the people who are making the work they admire, and to the studios they aspire to join, is essential. This is their opportunity to meet their heroes face-to-face and start building those relationships.”

Across two packed days, attendees heard from an exciting line-up of speakers representing some of the world’s leading motion design studios, including FIELD.IO, Cavalry, FutureDeluxe, Golden Wolf, Art&Graft, Ditroit, Tomorrow Bureau, and Builders Club. Presentations explored everything from creative workflows and studio culture to the latest innovations in design and animation.
Alongside the talks, students took part in hands-on workshops with tools such as Cavalry, Touch Designer and Photoshop, gaining insights into professional practices while experimenting with new techniques. Portfolio reviews run by Pebble Studios offered direct feedback and networking opportunities, while student work created during the workshops was exhibited each evening.
Ian quote
Companies like ours need motion designers not just to make tutorials, but also to create demonstration content in the software. Events like this help us see what emerging talent is capable of and how the next generation is thinking. Young creatives often drive new trends in the industry because they’re the ones with the time, the curiosity, and the fresh perspective.”
With DJ sets, drinks receptions and a lively atmosphere, Mo:De once again demonstrated Ravensbourne’s commitment to giving students access to real world insights and opportunities that equip them for success in their chosen industries.
