Ravensbourne University London students have curated their most impressive work for an outdoor exhibition, in collaboration with CreativeLab and Greenwich Peninsula’s creative design studio.

The students’ work will be available to view in the form of an outdoor gallery at Greenwich Peninsula, the bold new London landscape that the university calls home, from Tuesday 1 December 2020. We are thrilled to celebrate the class of 2020 who designed, thrived and survived a year like no other.

Ravensbourne Outdoor Degree Show

Ravensbourne has been part of the vibrant community at Greenwich Peninsula since 2010 and will be opening the Institute for Creativity and Technology in spring 2021. The institute is a brand new four-storey building at the much-anticipated Design District, London's new permanent workspace for the creative industries. We are proud to be part of this creative community, renowned for uniquely championing emerging and established artists in its ever-evolving neighbourhood. Through the power of community and collaboration, an incredible exhibition has been curated in the midst of a pandemic.

As the government enforced lockdowns transformed the way we live, students thought of how best they could still present their amazing hard work. CreativeLab curated an Online Degree show, developing a visual language and identity that represented the Ravensbourne class of 2020. Students displayed resilience and ingenuity in equal measure, which is now being shared for all to enjoy outdoors at Greenwich Peninsula.

As the country emerges from a second national lockdown, visitors will be welcomed back to Greenwich Peninsula with a vibrant outdoor display of bold student work. This alternative avenue is an opportunity to bring art and design directly to the public in a safe, inclusive setting.  Ravensbourne are delighted to be able to showcase student work in light of the cancelled physical degree show.

Chloe Culpin, the Degree Show project lead in CreativeLab explained, “CreativeLab are honoured to have been able to bring the concept designed by students for a live show to an outdoor exhibition. Like everything at Ravensbourne, this was a truly collaborative project and we are grateful to all those involved.”

Kaia Charles, Cultural Curator for Greenwich Peninsula added, "We are delighted to be hosting such an innovative degree show and the work of Ravensbourne's students never ceases to inspire. The importance of giving these emerging artists a platform to showcase their creativity cannot be underestimated. Their work and the work of Ravensbourne is an integral part of our community and we couldn't be prouder to be part of their 2020 show."

This Outdoor Degree Show gives a glimpse of the creative pioneers of the future, who have triumphed against challenges that have often felt impossible. The opportunity for a safe, socially-distanced outdoor exhibition means we can uplift the local community when they need it most.

The student work can be viewed in the Upper Riverside neighbourhood at Greenwich Peninsula from Tuesday 1 December 2020.
