Edinburgh International University Film Festival representatives share industry insights through talk with Ravensbourne students

Publication date:

Ravensbourne University London recently welcomed representatives from the Edinburgh International University Film Festival (EIUFF) to campus, where they delivered an industry-focused talk to second-year students on the BA (Hons) Digital Film Production course.

As part of Ravensbourne’s ongoing partnership with the student-led international festival, the session offered students some insight into how EIUFF operates and its mission to widen access to the film industry, alongside the opportunities available for emerging filmmakers to showcase their work.

Founded by students, for students, EIUFF is dedicated to championing early-entry talent from universities across the UK and across the globe. Returning in September 2026, the festival runs over the course of five days and features screenings, workshops, panels and networking events designed to bridge the gap between higher education and professional practice.

During the talk, EIUFF representatives spoke to students about a variety of topics that sit at the core of the festival, including its ethos, the importance of accessible submission criteria and what the programming team looks for when reviewing films. Undergraduates were also introduced to this year’s theme, ‘All That Surrounds Us’, which invites filmmakers to explore the histories and environments that shape who we are and where we are going.

As part of the partnership, Ravensbourne students were also made aware of the opportunities to get involved with the festival through ambassador and volunteer roles, which offer valuable experience in both cultural leadership and operations within a professional organisation.

For those looking to submit work, the EIUFF team provided granular details on the condition’s films must be produced under, which includes staying within a £5,000 production budget. While any film under 40 minutes is eligible, they noted a particular preference for shorts running between 10 and 25 minutes.

Ravensbourne University London is proud to partner with organisations like EIUFF that share its commitment to widening participation and opening meaningful pathways into the creative industries.
