Students from Ravensbourne’s BA (Hons) Advertising and Brand Design course showcased their work on a mobile digital billboard. The ingenious exhibition acted as an alternative to their cancelled physical Degree Show, allowing them to present their work around London.

On Thursday 25 June 2020, our students took their work on the road with a digital exhibition. As the government enforced lockdown closed institutions throughout the world, our students thought of how best they could still present their amazing work to potential employers. The innovative students conceived a plan to showcase their work around iconic London landmarks, and enjoy some of the exposure that Degree Shows usually represent.

Although many office workers are still confined to their homes, the students hoped that their ground-breaking work could garner the audience it deserves and be enjoyed by the general public. The mobile digital billboard provided an opportunity for a safe, socially-distanced outdoor exhibition, that anyone could view.

The touring degree show is part of a wider campaign titled ‘We are 906’. The campaign is a celebration of the work that a collective of students have made together in Studio 906 in the Ravensbourne building. The students have created a catalogue that displays their work and a vibrant, dedicated website that champions their impressive talent.

Third year student, Shiv Patel, commented, ‘We are a resilient bunch and have always been encouraged to look for the next opportunity. Rather than thinking about what we couldn't do for our final show, we solved the problem and focused on how we could make it better. While our work is as varied as we are, it is always grounded in real world insights, so it made sense to present our work in the real world.’

We are incredibly proud that our students have used their initiative and have demonstrated such resilience. Although the coronavirus pandemic has been incredibly difficult, our students have continued to create and innovate.
