Biography
Dr Dababrata Chowdhury is Associate Professor in Entrepreneurship and Knowledge Management at Ravensbourne University.
Dababrata joined Ravensbourne in October 2022 to provide strategic and academic leadership in research, knowledge exchange, and postgraduate education, as well as to contribute to the institution’s ongoing development. He graduated in Computer Science and Engineering (BSc) from Hacettepe University, Ankara, Turkey, before completing an MBA and PhD at the University of Plymouth.

Previous Academic Roles and Experience
Before joining Ravensbourne, Dr. Chowdhury served as an Associate Professor in Entrepreneurship and Marketing at the Suffolk Business School, University of Suffolk (UoS). A Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, he has worked in higher education for over 20 years.
Dr. Chowdhury's expertise includes technology, innovation, creativity, student employability, entrepreneurial development, and knowledge management. He has extensive knowledge of universities and the ability to build strategic partnerships with companies and communities worldwide.
Leadership, Programme Development and Pedagogical Engagement
Dr. Chowdhury has a proven track record in establishing new centres, managing large budgets, building and leading new teams, and ensuring efficient processes with strong governance.
Over more than two decades, he has successfully managed numerous projects across academic and strategic domains. This includes developing undergraduate and postgraduate programmes such as the MSc in Business and Management and the MSc in International Business and Management. In these programmes, Dr. Chowdhury introduced international entrepreneurship and digital entrepreneurship modules as core elements.
Drawing on extensive experience in both national and international higher education contexts, his pedagogical approach embraces diverse institutional models. Through teaching, research, and external collaboration, Dr. Chowdhury has made significant contributions to advancing pedagogical practice.
Advancing Student Learning, Innovation and Research Excellence
Recognised for a strong focus on student experience, Dr. Chowdhury has integrated technology-assisted learning into curricula and introduced gamification techniques using tools such as SimVenture.
He has extensive experience in PhD and DBA supervision, specialising in entrepreneurship, marketing, and knowledge management.
Dr. Chowdhury also has considerable experience in external and internal research examination, both within the UK and internationally.
Editorial and Academic Leadership Roles
Currently Dr. Chowdhury serves as Associate Editor for the Review of Applied Socio-Economic Research Journal, has acted as Guest Editor for a special issue on the Psychology of High Performance Work Systems and is an Editorial Board Member for the International Journal of Technology Intelligence and Planning (IJTIP).
He is also Co-Editor of the International Journal of Entrepreneurship and Management Inquiries. Recently, Dr. Chowdhury became President and Co-Chair of the International Entrepreneurship and Social Sciences Congress (EMI).
International Academic Engagements
Dr. Chowdhury holds associate and visiting professorships at the University of Kota (India), Istanbul Commerce University (Turkey), University of Dhaka (Bangladesh), Spiru Haret University (Romania), Karachi University (Pakistan), and Yessenov University (Kazakhstan).
In the current academic year, he also holds an associateship with the Cambridge Central Asia Forum, Jesus College, University of Cambridge.
