Built for Industry: LaunchPad at Ravensbourne University London

Publication date:

On this edition of Built for Industry, we take a deep dive into LaunchPad: a weeklong careers initiative run by Ravensbourne University London, designed to provide final-year and postgraduate students with a vital platform for learning, networking and upskilling.

Aimed at bridging the gap between academic study and entering the workforce in a creative, technological or business discipline, LaunchPad involved a variety of inspiring guest talks, illuminating panel discussions and practical workshops.

LaunchPad’s 2025 mission – to inspire, equip and connect – was delivered upon in abundance, with professionals from leading organisations seizing the opportunity to learn with 150 students from Ravensbourne’s coveted pool of fresh talent.

Sessions from the University’s target sectors included a careers Q&A with Samantha Hornsby, co-founder of ERIC, a personal branding workshop delivered by Alicia Richardson, founder of Create Connect, and a start-up masterclass from the Rebel Business School.

These sessions were supplemented by further opportunities for connection and collaboration between students and industry, with careers fairs devoted to Creative and Media as well as Business and Technology.

‘This session has been life-changing for me’

Ravensbourne’s students’ reflections on LaunchPad were telling, praising the industry-standard guidance and keen sector insights.

When asked about the personal branding workshop, one student remarked: “This session has been life-changing for me”. Another, who attended the Rebel Business School’s workshop, labelled it “an incredible and inspiring talk”.

The Creative and Media careers fair opened avenues for further dialogue between students and industry, with one participant saying it had “left a lasting impact” and that it was “truly helpful and meaningful”.

The same was true of the Business and Technology careers fair, as students lauded the impact of the delegates who “helped advise on how to find jobs and prepare for interviews”.

Events such as those ran as part of LaunchPad are a vital element of Ravensbourne’s commitment to producing industry-ready graduates. By connecting the student body with leaders of the creative, technology and business sectors, the University is further facilitating the ongoing dialogue between academia and industry.

LaunchPad was organised and delivered by Careers Lab at Ravensbourne. You can find out more about them via their dedicated webpage.
