Ravensbourne University London will be working with The Institute of Practitioners in Advertising (IPA) and Creative Pioneers to provide training for the Level 3 Junior Creative Apprenticeship Standard. The apprenticeships will help to ensure that the creative industry is far more inclusive and diverse.

The apprenticeship programme will look to support young, fresh creatives and provide them with the necessary knowledge and confidence to work successfully within the creative industry, regardless of their backgrounds.

The apprenticeship, which is available to 25 individuals this year, covers a variety of topics within 14 modules. The course will provide the apprentices with the experience to work on real briefs and will be delivered mostly online over the course of 18 months. Available across England, the opportunity will be open for both creative and media agencies and can be offered to new starters or to upskill existing junior employees.

Ravensbourne is thrilled to play an important role in bringing much needed diversity to the creative industry. Our expert tutors who will be able to share years of industry knowledge with new students who may not have otherwise had the means to participate in such study. We hope this opportunity will provide those who are taking part with the basis to build a successful career and to play an integral role in helping to reshape the creative workforce.

Janet Hull OBE, Director of Marketing Strategy, IPA & Chair, Creative Pioneers commented, “This new Junior Creative Apprenticeship Standard provides an incredible opportunity for agencies to access and develop the best, most diverse talent to help drive their success, both immediately and into the future.”

When discussing how this opportunity will positively affect diversity in the workplace Stu Outhwaite-Noel, Chief Creative Officer at Creature who is helping to lead the Standard says, “With the Junior Creative Apprenticeship Standard, we've at last opened a door to welcome and embrace creative talent who haven't the means to attend traditional advertising courses. This could be a real game-changer, changing the face - and the faces - of advertising creative departments."

The IPA Creative Apprenticeship programme is an initiative that Ravensbourne is proud to support and we hope to see a number of creative and media agencies take up the opportunities available in a move to help diversify the creative workforce together.
