Concept and creative process
Titles for ‘Talking Pictures’, a monthly series on world cinema, in which Gavin Millar talked movies with the people who made them. The title sequence was a montage of shots of movie-making equipment, filmed stop-frame and at normal speed, and mixed with animated portraits of some of the movie greats, filmed on a rostrum camera together with the revolving title logo. The footage was edited, neg cut and composited in a film optical at a film laboratory to make the final graded transmission print.
