I Didn’t Know You Cared (1975)

Concept and creative process

Opening titles for a 1970s sitcom about the dour Yorkshire-based Brandon family. A beautifully simple solution to the all-too-frequent requirement to introduce the main actors to the audience in the programme titles. In his live action sequence Bernard Lodge used the device of the actors, seen reflected in different mirrors in a variety of settings, to create an in-character, appropriate scene-setting programme title.
