The Great Egg Race (1979)

Concept and creative process

Titles for a series of programmes, presented by Heinz Wolff, featuring competitors racing their eggmobiles to see who can go furthest, and a problem solving competition between teams from industry and academia,  who make a weighing machine out of household kitchen equipment. Ray Ogden designed a tongue-in-cheek, light-hearted sequence, which gave the egg character centre stage. The titles aimed to set the scene for the programme premise of showcasing good natured, competitive invention. The cel animation sequence was filmed on a rostrum camera and combined with camera moves.
