Doctors At Large (1998)

Concept and creative process

Titles for a series of documentaries updating the lives of the medical students/young doctors featured in the 1992 series 'Doctors To Be'. In the title sequence live action shots of hospital staff and equipment, seen as shadowy silhouettes behind hospital curtains, bookend a multi-layered montage of introductory clips of the main protagonists at work. The digital technical means of creating such visually complex sequences were by the 1990s becoming readily available and affordable and were beginning to have a marked impact on the production of television motion graphics.
