Nick Knowles and Lowri Turner present the pilot of a show which reveals and puts right a DIY disaster. A continuously panning frieze of alternating blue and red portraits of the show’s DIY presenters is further enhanced by a layer of photograms of the tools of the trade, composited in post-production. The idea of ‘DIY SOS‘ is encapsulated in a neat marriage of the turning screw and the signals for help, radiating out from the animating programme logo .
