The Dark Side Of The Sun (1983)

Concept and creative process

Titles for ‘The Dark Side of the Sun’, a mystery drama series, written by Michael J. Bird, in which supernatural terror awaited the unwary on Rhodes. The title sequence gave little of the plot away, hinting at Mediterranean light and the ancient stones of Lindos on Rhodes, where much of the action was filmed. It featured also the cross of St George, the central feature of the flag of the Knights Templar, who were associated with the island and whose descendants still met there clandestinely, according to one of the plotlines. Reviews of the plays were mixed, with the respected TV critic Nancy Banks-Smith writing in The Guardian “I don’t understand any of it.”
