Dad's Army (1968)

Concept and creative process

Iconic titles for the comedy series 'Dad's Army' which revolved around the wartime humour and activities of the Home Guard, defending Britain against the threat of Nazi invasion. The show's titles were originally conceived as a montage of Nazi troops and refugees. The Controller of BBC One had them removed as offensive and they were replaced at very short notice by the now iconic simple cut-out animated sequence of the swastika-headed arrows menacing Britain.
