Concept and creative process
‘Blue Peter Unleashed’ was one of the summer spin-off programmes that aired while the main strand was taking its summer break to film further special programmes such as this. The programme focused on the more 'dare-devil' things the presenters ended up doing. It had a bit more of an edgy feel about it, with the Blue Peter ship icon morphing into a racing car, a powerboat and a paraglider in the opening few seconds of the title sequence. It was fast paced, energised and frenetic with the animated icon continually morphing to match the live action clips of the presenters’ acts of derring-do with which it was composited – symbolising the energy of ‘Blue Peter Unleashed’.
