Concept and creative process
The 'Powder' ident was designed to be used before Arts based programmes. The ident was produced in 1992 together with 'Optic'. Restricted to the BBC2 Viridian brand colour, the '2' was filmed with a high-speed camera at Cell Animation by lighting cameraman Doug Foster. Everything was shot in camera, with a few particles added in post-production by Mike McGee at Framestore.
