Pathway leader for Media Production, on the Foundation Diploma, Annette is also currently a part-time postgraduate research student at Birkbeck University of London. Supervised by Dr Suzannah Biernoff, her thesis topic is 'Lustre: an investigation of the history and cultural aesthetics of sheen in the fashion image'.
Annette's work engages with manifestations of lustre through fashion photography, cinema, brand advertising, and commercial imagery and investigates the implications for a predominantly female audience in the 20th and 21st century.
As a fine artist and art historian, Annette has united her preoccupations with 'looked-at-ness', the tactile female gaze and the magazine, to examine visual literacy and the politics and aesthetics of identity.
