Ravensbourne at the V&A: Exploring the Future of Creative Technology
Ravensbourne University's Dr Orson Nava, Associate Professor in Digital Film Production, brought the conversation about AI and creative practice to one of the world's most iconic cultural institutions last month — the Victoria and Albert Museum.
As part of the V&A's Upstart: Careers in Art and Design festival, Dr Nava joined fellow trailblazing practitioners on the Creative + Tech panel on 23 May, held in the grand Lydia and Manfred Gorvy Lecture Theatre at V&A South Kensington. Before a captivated audience of young creatives, he screened the trailer for his film The Building — a bold, research-driven project produced through Ravensbourne as a knowledge exchange initiative — and led a thought-provoking discussion on how artificial intelligence is reshaping not just the tools of creative production, but the very nature of storytelling and society itself.
V&A Digital Film Production
The invitation came through an inspiring source closer to home: third-year Digital Film Production student Nicole Yessimova (pictured), a proud member of the V&A Youth Collective, who championed Dr Nava for the event and played a key role in its organisation. Nicole's initiative is a shining example of the kind of driven, industry-connected students that Ravensbourne nurtures — students who don't just study the creative industries, they help shape them.
From the lecture theatre to the festival stage, Ravensbourne continues to sit right at the heart of the conversation about where creativity is heading next.
