Grace Evans quote

What have you been doing since graduating from Ravensbourne University London, and how has your career progressed so far?

Since leaving Ravensbourne, I have been working at a documentary and content production company called Zandland, climbing the ranks to become a Production Manager. I specifically work on investigative documentaries, current affairs, podcasts, digital content and branded films.

Were there any industry projects, live briefs, placements, or collaborations during your studies that helped shape your career path?

During my time at Ravensbourne, I was able to make great connections that got me working on set within my first year. Because of this, I was able to build a network and learn practically. We were able to go into certain specialisms, meaning my lectures and coursework could be focused on production management. I learnt from industry professionals and have taken these skills and lessons into working life.

How did the connections you made at Ravensbourne with tutors, peers, or industry partners influence your professional journey?

I was able to learn from lecturers who had all worked within the industry. When choosing certain specialisms such as documentary and production management, I was able to learn from the best. I felt really inspired in my lectures to then continue on this journey after university.

What skills or experiences from your time at Ravensbourne do you use most in your current role?

We were able to try a bit of everything on the course, and this means I have a really well-rounded view of the production process. I can contribute to work from pre-production and post-production. Film and TV is really collaborative, and working on team projects at Ravensbourne set me up really well for this.

How does your career development connect to Ravensbourne's current focus on creativity, technology and business?

We were always encouraged to think creatively and practically, which I don't think is always the case in education. It has helped me so much in my career development in finding my niche and exploring what I am good at.

What advice would you give current Ravensbourne students hoping to start out in industry?

Work on set whenever the opportunity comes up, whether that is on student projects or with work experience. The connections you make now are really important and will help you more than you think!

What are you most proud of in your career so far?

Being a BAFTA nominated Production Manager!
