Regenerative Fashion Lab
Addressing one of the most pressing sustainability challenges of our time, transforming the fashion and luxury industries toward circular, regenerative models that restore rather than deplete natural and human resources.
Overview
Purpose
The Lab works at the intersection of craft heritage, culture, innovative technology and sustainable supply chain development. Rather than treating sustainability as a compliance burden, the Lab positions regeneration as opportunity for heritage craft skills to find contemporary market value, for technology to enable transparency and traceability, and for luxury brands to differentiate through authentic sustainability commitment.
The Lab's focus centres on circular textiles development, regenerative supply chain design, and heritage craft innovation. Working closely with industry and academic institutions that include international luxury and fashion brands and craft communities, the Lab creates demonstrator projects showing how circular business models can be profitable and achievable at scale.
Beyond demonstrator projects, the Lab produces research evidence on regenerative supply chains through publication and examining international case studies. These outputs feed directly into national and international debates on fashion sustainability with the intention to influence industry practice globally.
The Lab's community engagement is integral to research and as such hosts skill-share events with heritage craft communities to ensure that traditional knowledge is preserved, documented and valued. These events reach hundreds of participants, creating learning pathways for new practitioners and demonstrating fashion industry responsibility toward communities.
By 2028, the Lab aims to achieve demonstrable influence on international fashion sustainability standards, positioning Ravensbourne as an authoritative voice on sustainable luxury innovation whilst contributing measurably to reducing environmental and social harm within the fashion supply chain.
