A distinctive, practice-led research and innovation hub aligned with Ravensbourne University’s mission as a leading institution in digital, creative, and technology-driven education.

Overview

Purpose

The proposed Computing, Cybersecurity, and Artificial Intelligence (CCAI) Lab will serve as a distinctive, practice-led research and innovation hub aligned with Ravensbourne University's mission as a leading institution in digital, creative, and technology-driven education.

Reflecting Ravensbourne's identity as a digitally native, industry-connected university, the CCAI Lab will integrate technical research excellence with creative practice, design thinking, and entrepreneurial innovation. It will act as a focal point for interdisciplinary collaboration, external engagement, and impact-led research that supports the University's ambitions in digital innovation, enterprise, and employability.

The Lab will focus on advancing applied research at the intersection of computing systems, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence (AI), creative technologies, and societal impact, with a strong emphasis on industry relevance and real-world deployment.

The CCAI Lab will adopt a strongly applied and interdisciplinary research model, integrating computing and cybersecurity with creative technologies, design, media, business, and social sciences. Research will be co-created with industry and public-sector partners wherever possible, addressing real-world challenges faced by the creative industries, digital enterprises, and emerging technology sectors.

The Lab will prioritise translational research, rapid prototyping, and demonstrator-led outputs that align with Ravensbourne's practice-led ethos and emphasis on innovation and enterprise.

To deliver applied, industry-engaged research and innovation in computing, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence that supports secure, creative, and responsible digital transformation across the creative, cultural, and technology sectors.

Our vision is to establish Ravensbourne University as a recognised centre of excellence for applied research in secure and intelligent digital systems, bridging creative technologies and computing, and shaping the future of responsible AI and cybersecurity through practice-led innovation.
