Emerging Technology, Business and Social Purposes Lab
Exploring how emerging technologies can be understood and applied to advance responsible business practices and create social value.
Overview
Purpose
The Emerging Technology, Business and Social Purposes (EBS) Lab critically examines how technology is used within organisations and societies, seeking pathways that promote inclusion, fairness, and sustainability.
Recognising that emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, present both transformative potential and systemic challenges when adopted without clear attention to social purpose, the Lab brings together business scholars, technologists, ethicists, and social impact practitioners. It serves as a collaborative platform for exploring how organisations can integrate technological innovation with entrepreneurial approaches, sustainable business models, and the future of work to deliver meaningful societal impact.
The Lab contributes to policy and governance debates, producing evidence-based recommendations for the ethical and inclusive adoption of emerging technologies. This work informs international policy discussions and supports social responsibility and human-centred innovation.
Through these interconnected initiatives, the EBS Lab seeks to strengthen Ravensbourne University London's position as a leading voice at the intersection of technology, business, and social purpose. The Lab aims to engage with international academic, policy, and business communities by sharing its research frameworks and insights that support responsible, purposeful use of emerging technologies. By 2028, the Lab aspires to demonstrate tangible impact through collaborations, knowledge exchange, and contributions that help organisations navigate technology to deliver social and economic value.
