Concept and creative process
‘Words and Pictures’ was a long-running Schools series for children aged 6-7, designed to help their reading through storytelling. Bura and Hardwick’s idea for the titles was to depict characters from favourite children’s stories, animating on and off in a grid pattern, with ‘Words’ ‘and’ ‘Pictures’ likewise animating on and off, one at a time with a voice-over saying the words. The sequence was filmed on a rostrum camera.
