In Vision (1974)

Concept and creative process

‘In Vision’ took a weekly look at the whole spectrum of television output in the UK from the commercial channels to public service broadcasting. Sid Sutton’s design solution to the opening title for the programme was to set the scene with a futuristic television on a turntable, revolving as the camera tracked in to the on-switch at the side. The click of the switch brings on the viewer’s eye, zooming up into big close-up. As it opens, a montage of TV output scrolls across the eyeball of the viewer. The eye blinks once, revealing the title logo as it does so.
