Tucker's Luck (1983)

Concept and creative process

Opening titles for a children's drama about three ex-students of Grange Hill school. The title sequence conveyed their experience in the real world, the frustration of looking for work and trying to get by on unemployment benefit. It was made with a series of stills, specially shot with a motorised camera, of the lads in different locations. The black and white prints were selectively coloured by hand and filmed under a rostrum camera in sync to the title music. The programme heart-shaped logo was hand drawn in the style of a decal.
