Skeleton Coast (1997)

Concept and creative process

Titles for a travelogue series which charts explorer Benedict Allen's four-month, 1,000-mile journey along the Skeleton Coast of Namibia. The titles are a montage of footage from the journey, continuously dissolving between shots of artefacts, such as an oil lamp, a compass, a pair of binoculars, Benedict Allen’s passport and a map locating the Skeleton Coast and Namibia. It ends on a still photograph of the traveller and his camels silhouetted against the sunset.
