Saturday Kitchen (2002)

Concept and creative process

The titles for ‘Saturday Kitchen’ fell into two discrete halves – a generic title sequence and a menu of clips from shows to be featured in the programme. The titles consisted of live action shots filmed on the kitchen set, with whip pans over the equipment and glassware, before momentarily homing in on one of the prepared dishes. The steam from one of these drifted and animated into the programme title. The sequence was composited in a digital edit with vignettes for the menu clips over a living background, followed by a brief reprise of the generic title animation.
