Concept and creative process
Titles for ‘The Rag Trade’, a comedy series set in a dress factory. The sequence was filmed on a rostrum camera and hand-animated one frame at a time using fabrics, buttons, wool and a zip. The zipping up of the ‘mouth’ by the foreman’s hand parodied the prevailing industrial relations and the female shop steward’s readiness to call for the women workers to strike for their rights.
