The Natural World (1987)

Concept and creative process

BBC Two's classic wildlife series ‘The Natural World’, which tells in-depth stories of incredible animals, featuring award-winning photography in some of the most extraordinary places in the world. The concept for the titles was the footprint, a succession of animal and human footprints in the sand on a beach, filmed in one continuous camera move, as each one was washed away by the next wave. The programme title too remained etched in the sand, undisturbed by the receding wave.
