Concept and creative process
Titles for a Schools series for 7 to 9 year-olds offering a stimulating mixture of animation, documentary and graphics to illustrate basic techniques for composing. The visual references to musical instruments were deliberately kept low key in the titles, with monochrome close-up shots subtly visible as a live action background pattern. The animation of brightly coloured abstract shapes was composited in further layers and densities on top of the background with another live action layer of a child’s mouth synchronised with the voices on the soundtrack. The logo too was synced with the title music track and built from several variations of the word ‘Music’ to the final image. The title sequence was designed and composited in a digital edit at Framestore.
