Maths-In-A-Box (1980)

Concept and creative process

Opening titles for a schools series, ‘Maths-in-a-Box’ - a Maths dramatisation for 6-9 year olds written by Alex Glasgow. Paul and Tracy meet Powka, an extra-terrestrial being who arrives from space in his die-shaped space capsule. Powka’s computer is broken and the children spend the series teaching it and Powka basic maths, measurement and geometry, in order to be able to return home. The title sequence is traditional cel-animation filmed on a rostrum camera.
