Opening titles for a version of Charlotte Bronte's classic love story injected with doses of pure horror, powerfully imagined and hauntingly memorable. Heavy moquette drapes moving surreptitiously in the dark of night and the shadowy portraits of the leading actors created the right degree of ominousness for the treatment of the classic story to come.
