Centre Play (1976)

Concept and creative process

Opening titles for a season of new plays by writers, some of whom were new to television. The opening title was made by filming artwork on the rostrum camera and consisted of a rainbow of spiralling colours as a background and an animated black vortex as a top layer. The zoom in of the camera on the black centre of the images enhanced the spiralling effect and created a space for the series logotype to animate on in the black void.
