Concept and creative process
The computer-generated BBC Cymru Ident animation of the Welsh dragon preceded the titles for ‘Ar Y Tir’, a Welsh language programme which took a weekly look at the farming and rural scene. Graphic marks and textures were used as decorative elements or to create mattes, through which details of farming scenes were keyed. Rectangular vignettes were also used to frame live action clips and decorative line illustrations of farm animals were added to the montage. All of the elements were composited in a Quantel Harry edit over an abstract background of softly-coloured and shaded geometric planes.
