Conducttr, a company based in Ravensbourne’s Incubation Unit which nurtures creative industries start-ups, were presented the Communications Award at the Stationer’s Innovation Excellence Awards 2019.

Nataly Ríos, Creative Consultant at Conducttr accepted the award from the Master of the Stationers’ Company, David Allan.

The City of London Livery Company for the communications and content industries hold the awards once a year, aiming to recognise the ‘key role the communications and content industries play in the UK economy, highlighting outstanding innovation in the sector’. Conducttr were among 18 businesses shortlisted for the awards, recognised for their innovations in transmedia storytelling — the technique of telling a story across multiple platforms and formats using digital technology.

Conducttr licenses its technology to businesses for them to develop and deploy immersive, scenario-based experiences. For example, Kodansha, the world’s largest manga publisher, used the technology to bring to life fictional characters from Attack on Titan, while others like Vodafone use the technology for crisis simulations to rehearse for high impact disruptions to their business.

The organisation has been based at Ravensbourne’s award-winning Incubation Unit for the past three years, where they receive access to specialist business support, funding guidance and the university’s facilities. Through Incubation, Ravensbourne graduates and members of the local community are able to collaborate to establish early stage start-ups.

Ha Smith, Head of Enterprise and Innovation at Ravensbourne said, “It’s wonderful to see Conducttr recognised in this way by the Stationers’ — a livery company who have been supporting the content and communications industries for over 600 years. Congratulations to the team for their persistent hard work and dedication, it has been a pleasure to be able to support their development since they joined Incubation.”

Robert Pratten, Chief Executive Officer of Conducttr added, “Winning the award has been amazing and we wouldn’t have won it without Ha’s encouragement.”

All six award winners will receive £3,000 worth of time with experts from Mathys & Squire Patent & Trade Mark Attorneys, who along with Picon, sponsored the event. Find our more about Incubation at Ravensbourne
